Miigwetch and Kinanâskomitin to the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, the Downtown Community Safety Partnership, Ogijiita Pimatiswin Kinamatwin (OPK), Comm.UNITY.204, Anishiative, Aboriginal Health & Wellness Centre and others for making this initiative possible. A Community Care Camp with warming tipis is now open 24/7; and indoor warming spaces are anticipated to open by December 1. To celebrate, Right to Housing Coalition Manitoba is holding a Rally for Subsidized Housing at the Manitoba Legislature at noon. This is also the day that Parliament reconvenes in Ottawa. Tell your MP and key members in Parliament, including party leaders, that you want urgent and immediate action on ending homelessness and making housing safe and affordable for all. Canada Manitoba Housing Benefit End Homelessness Winnipeg administers the Canada-Manitoba Housing Benefit (CMHB) in partnership with Manitoba Housing. This is a new shelter benefit/rent subsidy, portable within Manitoba, that can be stacked with Rent Assist. Eligible applicants are connected to a housing support program; receiving EIA or non-EIA Rent Assist; in core housing need due to affordability; a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or refugee claimant; and living in private rental accommodation (not Manitoba Housing). Housing support program workers assist applicants to complete and submit the CMHB application form, along with a copy of the applicant’s tenancy agreement or EIA Rent Form.
