End Homelessness Winnipeg partnered with Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness to bring the national CAEH conference to Winnipeg. The Fifth Annual National Conference on Ending Homelessness took place at the Convention Centre from October 25 to 27, 2017.
The conference had a special focus on Indigenous homelessness, Truth & Reconciliation, and Social Justice, with dedicated sessions, featured content throughout the program, some terrific keynote speakers as well as art, cultural, and Ceremonial opportunities. End Homelessness Winnipeg hosted a pre-conference summit on October 24, 2017 to engage participants in a facilitated and interactive process that involved keynote speakers, panel presentations, and roundtable group work focused on:
1. Defining Indigenous homelessness
2. Linking Indigenous homelessness to the work of The Truth and Reconciliation Report
3. Aligning homelessness work at the federal, provincial, and local levels
This work contributed to the development of the Definition of Indigenous Homelessness in Canada.
