Introducing End Homelessness Winnipeg’s Board of Directors
End Homelessness Winnipeg’s By-laws require that its board of directors have between nine and seventeen members, that a minimum of four directors (¼ of the board) must be Indigenous, and that the membership be composed as follows:
- Up to four directors from the community sector
- Up to three directors from the private sector
- Up to four directors appointed by the board
- Six directors appointed by “permanent” members: one each from the City of Winnipeg, federal government, United Way of Winnipeg, and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) and up to two appointed by the Government of Manitoba.
The By-laws also specify that the board must have two co-chairs. Accordingly, at its first meeting on May 26, 2015, the board elected Charles Loewen and Diane Redsky as co-chairs. The board brings together expertise from the community and critical elements such as Lived Experience, Indigenous representation, task force participation, and gender balance.
