Introducing End Homelessness Winnipeg’s Board of Directors
End Homelessness Winnipeg’s By-laws require that its board of directors have between five and 22 members and that a minimum of 75% of the elected Directors must be Indigenous. In addition, the board contains six seats to be appointed by permanent members: one each from the City of Winnipeg, federal government, United Way of Winnipeg, and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) and up to two appointed by the Government of Manitoba.
The By-laws also specify that the board must have a chair and vice-chair. Accordingly, at its meeting in September, 2019 the board elected Jason Whitford as Chair and Crystal Laborero as Vice Chair. The board brings together expertise from the community and critical elements such as Lived Experience, Indigenous representation, task force participation, and gender balance.
